Originally drafted 205th overall by the New York Rangers at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Henrik Lundqvist would remain in his native Sweden for a total of five (5) seasons before coming over to North America and the bright lights of Manhattan, winning the Honken Trophy as Swedish Goaltender of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2005 while backstopping the Frolunda Indians of the Swedish Elite League, winning league championships in both 2003 and 2005 as well. Stepping between the pipes in the NHL for the first time starting with the 2005-06 season, posting a record of 30-12-9 in 53 games played as well as a .922 save percentage and earning Vezina Trophy votes, offered here is this photo-matched blocker that was worn by Lundqvist during his rookie season. A TPS made "Xceed" model in New York's red, white and blue colours, "Lundqvist" is embroidered into the underside of the wrist while "Pro Spec" is found embroidered into the backside of the blocking board as well. Exhibiting heavy amounts of game-use via numerous puck marks throughout as well as repairs to the face and inside edge of the piece, dye and red post paint transfers are seen over the canvas edges on the inside of the piece and there is some fraying/scuffing of the leather at the bottom and top corners. Exhibiting some red dye transfer over the palm of the blocker, which also shows light rubbing and is likely a replacement done by team staff towards the end of the season based on the heavy use that is seen throughout. Accompanied by a MeiGray LOA and COR, the blocker has been photo-matched with Getty Image #115319257 (April 22nd, 2006 vs New Jersey - Eastern Conference Quarter Finals Game 1), the first NHL playoff game of Lundqvist's career, to numerous puck marks over the face of the blocker.
