Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
The first player to reach the 500 goal mark in his National Hockey League career, Maurice Richard would also become the first man to register 50 goals in 50 games. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961 upon the conclusion of a career that saw him win eight (8) Stanley Cup championships as well as a Hart Trophy in 1947, "The Rocket" was also the first non-politician to be given a state funeral by the province of Quebec upon his passing in 2000. Offered here, we present this copy of Richard's sophomore year card that was found as the leadoff offering in Parkhurst's 1952-53 hockey release. Presenting with excellent colours over the front of the card, which displays with even light-to-moderate toning as well, the centering of the front image is virtually spot on. Having been slabbed by PSA for both display and preservation, the company has deemed the card worthy of a GOOD+ 2.5 mark, with the card showing corner and edge wear plus what seems to be light wrinkles to the top left and bottom right corners on the reverse that surely keep it from achieving a higher grade. Sure to be an esteemed addition to your all-important collection, the PSA holder housing the card is found in beautiful shape.
