This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Always a hobby favourite and featuring a groovy array of colours as well as a strong group of National Hockey League star power, up on the block this time is a near complete assembly of O-Pee-Chee’s fabled 1971-72 release. Ringing in with 260 of the set’s 264 cards present and accounted for, the group is missing only cards 180-O'Donoghue RC, 200-Dupere RC, 261-Hull AS and 264-Checklist for completion, the group is found to be in the overall uniform condition range of EX to EX-MT throughout with small quantities both a bit better and/or worse while cards 89-Morrison, 130-Tremblay, 167-Mickey, 175-Leach RC and 233-Paiement all lower grade examples. Led by the trio of key rookie cards that includes the likes of Ken Dryden (EX-MT to NM), Guy Lafleur (EX to EX-MT - slight corner wear) and Marcel Dionne (G to VG - light creases - dinged top right corner), condition leaders among the remaining notables include EX-MT to NM offerings of 100-Orr (off-center from top-to-bottom) and 262-Howe/Mr. Hockey plus an EX-MT copy of card #114 that pictures Bobby Clarke over the front (off-center - slight border wear at top and right sides) while 193-Sittler (90-10 centering) and 251-Orr AS (top right corner ding) are both a bit lesser off and present in the vicinity of EX to EX-MT for their efforts. Rounding out the key cards with VG-EX to EX specimens of 60-Perreault (off-center - bottom right corner ding) and 263-Beliveau/Le Gros Bill (small dings to three of the four corners), the checklist card found at #111 in the set is seen as being in the scope of G to VG while remaining unmarked and showing a crease while card #245, the trophy card of Bobby Orr is closer to the neighbourhood of GOOD because of creases. Overall, a wonderful trip down memory lane awaits our lucky winning bidder via this excellent near-complete assembly!
