Playing his junior hockey as a member of the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WCJHL before turning pro with the Detroit Red Wings, Norm Ullman would play a total of 1410 National Hockey League games over the course of a career that saw him don the NHL colours of both Detroit and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Also playing 144 games in the World Hockey Association as a member of the Edmonton Oilers and putting up a combined NHL/WHA total of 1359 career points, offered here is this puck used by Ullman to score the 400th goal of his NHL career. Born on Boxing Day in 1935, Ullman was a day short of his of his 35th birthday when he potted the milestone marker against Gump Worlsey in a game against the Minnesota North Stars that resulted in a 6-3 loss on Christmas Day 1970 at the Met Center in Bloomington, Minnesota. Becoming on the 7th NHL player to reach the 400 goal plateau, the historic marker would occur at 16:55 of the 2nd period of play and be assisted by both Jim McKenny and Dave Keon. Hailing from his personal collection and accompanied by his signed LOA, offered here is the puck Ullman scored the goal with as well as the trophy base used to display it. A Converse made biscuit with a rubberized North Stars crest on one side and the Converse orange octagon logo screened over the reverse, the puck remains in good condition while the North Stars crest shows some light crazing and toning as well as couple of small stains. Also showing various scratches and scuffs from game-use, the wooden base measures roughly 10" wide at its longest points with a gold coloured slot to hold the puck as well as miniature hockey player, also gold in colour affixed to it. Featuring a plaque on top that reads "To Commemorate Norm Ullman's 400th Goal Scored at Minnesota, Dec. 25th - 1970", the base shows light wear throughout as well as some residue inside the slot that is meant to hold the puck. Of note, the slot for the puck was once broke off and since been repaired.
