Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Having roots in the United States dating all the way back to the middle of the 18th century, baseball has firmly cemented itself as “America’s Pastime” in the many years since then and has given sports fans some amazing moments along the way. The top recognition of any Major League Baseball player’s career, induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York has only been awarded to 342 individuals with 268 of them being players. Offered here, we present this collection of signed and game-used baseball memorabilia totalling six (6) pieces that includes signed examples from deceased HOFers Hank Aaron, Willie McCovey, Bob Gibson, Ernie Banks and Lou Brock. Starting with a pair of single signed official Major League Baseballs from the Selig era that feature the autographs of McCovey and Brock, both have signed the balls in blue ballpoint pen and added HOF inscriptions underneath and comes with wooden/glass display cases that remain in overall good condition. With both the balls and autographs displaying well, it is worth mentioning for accuracy that the balls show light toning or stains and the autographs show a bit of fading while both have had either PSA/DNA and/or SportsMemorabilia.com holograms affixed. Also including a pair of bats signed by HOFers Ernie Banks and Lou Brock, both are natural wood coloured sticks made by either Rawlings or Adirondack that are both 34" in length and remain in excellent condition with just light handling wear and a few small marks observed. Having been individually signed over the barrel of both with blue ink signatures that display well, both show a bit of light fading that is heaviest on the Banks example. Additionally, both have had SportsMemorabilia.com holograms affixed. Next, the last of the Hall of Fame offerings is an 8" x 10" photo of Hank Aaron that has been signed by the man that some still view as the home run king with a bold blue ink signature over the front that shows a good amount of fading. Having had a SportsMemorabilia.com hologram affixed at the bottom right, the picture is housed in a simple oversized black coloured frame that shows wear to the sides, edges and corners that is worth pointing out. Finally, to conclude the lot, is a bottle opener made from a bat used by Johnny Peralta during his time with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2015 that has two MLB holograms affixed and remains in good condition. With all but the Gibson ball accompanied by a matching COA, don't miss out on this group of fantastic offerings featuring the signatures of some of the greatest to ever play the game.
