Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024

The 64th season of play for the Montreal Canadiens, the bleu, blanc et rouge would post a record of 52-10-13 during the 1972-73 regular season with Jacques Lemaire posting a total of forty-four (44) goals and Ken Dryden backstopping the team to the tune of a .926 save percentage and a 2.26 goals against average. Knocking off the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the 1973 Stanley Cup Playoffs as well as the "Broad Street Bullies" in round two to set up an "Original Six" Stanley Cup Finals against the Chicago Black Hawks, the Habs would claim the 18th Stanley Cup in franchise history by downing the Black Hawks four (4) games to two (2) with Yvan Cournoyer being awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoffs MVP. Marking the final Stanley Cup of Henri Richard's illustrious career, offered here is this Montreal Canadiens 1972-73 Stanley Cup Champions Game 6 display that has been signed by over twenty-five (25) members of that Cup winning squad. Measuring approximately 9" x 11 3/4" in size and featuring a ghostly image of the Stanley Cup in the background behind notations reading "1973 Stanley Cup Final Game 6", an NHL shield logo is found at the top of the piece while "National Hockey League" is listed along the bottom edge of the luncheon menu for the game that has been mounted/glued to a foam board. Featuring moderate toning throughout its entirety from age with a lighter rectangular spot in the bottom right and a spot stain to the right of the Cup's upper bands, those that have signed the piece include HOFers Ken Dryden, Henri Richard, Yvan Cournoyer, Frank Mahovlich, Guy Lafleur, Steve Shutt, Scotty Bowman, Serge Savard, Larry Robinson, Jacques Lemaire and Guy Lapointe as well as others including Pete Mahovlich, Pierre Bouchard, Wayne Thomas, Eddy Palchak (Asst. Trainer), Chuck Lefley, Claude Larose and many others. Acquired by our consignor from his father who had given him the piece more than thirty (30) years ago and stated it was signed by everyone after the Game 6 Cup clinching victory, all the autographs remain clear and legible despite some light fading from age and are signed in black ballpoint pen ink. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany the piece.
