Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
The first series of cards issued by Topps in their large and in charge "tall-boys" release for the 1964-65 season of National Hockey League play, offered here is this complete 55-card Series One (1) set from that year, as well as eight (8) 2nd series cards, with the grouping of over sized goodies found mostly in the high-grade condition ranges of EX to EX-MT and EX-MT to NM throughout with some cards also a bit worse off to tell you about as well. Starting with the notable cards, condition leaders include EX-MT range specimens of both 20-Hull (very slight corner wear) and 40-Bower (very small amount of bottom right corner fuzz) while EX to EX-MT vicinity cards include the likes of 6-Sawchuk (light wear at the top border), 31-Mikita, 54-Checklist (unmarked), 72-Dornhoeffer RC (2nd Series) and 102-Horton (2nd Series - light print mark at bottom left). Continuing, the cards of 1-Martin (top left corner ding) and 55-Checklist (unmarked - bottom border crease) are both in the neighbourhood of VG-EX to EX while 33-Beliveau (top right corner ding) and 47-Crozier (off-center and bottom right corner ding) are both around the scope of VG-EX respectively. Rounding out the key cards with a VG condition vicinity copy of card #12 that pictures Glenn Hall over the front and shows with surface "snow" over the front that is worth mentioning for accuracy, the breakdown of the remaining cards not listed above includes sixteen (16) in the range of EX-MT to NM, thirty-two (32) in the proximity of EX to EX-MT and finally three (3) viewed as being VG-EX to EX for their efforts. A classic set that is sure to take you on a wonderful trip down memory lane and enhance your all-important vintage collection.
