This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Featuring a 51-card checklist that includes players from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens, the 1961-62 Parkhurst set is often regarded by collectors as the release that signaled the beginning of the end for the company’s hockey releases. Found here in a complete assembly and made up of mostly mid-grade range specimens throughout with some both better and worse, the group is led by an EX to EX-MT scope copy of card #43 that pictures Henri Richard over the front while card #3 of Maple Leafs goalie, Johnny Bower, presents in the realm of EX condition with light corner wear to make you aware of. Also including VG-EX to EX vicinity cards of 1-Horton (off-center and light corner wear) and 26-Ullman (light corner wear), card #49 of Jacques Plante is seen as being in the neighbourhood of VG to VG-EX for its effort, showing a ding to the top right corner that keeps it from a higher designation. For the rest of the notables, those of 2-Mahovlich (small crease at bottom right corner) and 7-Shack (small dent at bottom left) are in the scope of G to VG condition while 5-Keon RC (a pair of small creases), 20-Howe (small crease at bottom right), 31-Sawchuk (small crease at left border), 35-Geoffrion (small crease bottom middle) and 45-Richard (crease at bottom right) all present in the range of GOOD after inspection. For the balance of the set, a pair (2) of cards are seen as being in the scope of EX to EX-MT condition while five (5) are around VG-EX to EX, thirteen (13) are around VG to VG-EX, nine (9) are seen as being in the range of G to VG, five (5) show around GOOD and lastly, five (5) fall into the category of FR to G. Hailing from the final years of the NHL's Original Six golden era, don't miss out on these!
