A veteran of 705 games played during their NBA career, Joe Barry Carroll would wear the uniform of the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, New Jersey Nets, Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns during his career after playing college basketball with Purdue and being selected 1st overall in the 1980 NBA Draft. Named to the NBA All-Star Game in 1987, offered here is this shooting shirt worn by Carroll as a member of the Golden State Warriors in the early part of the season before he was traded to the Houston Rockets. Made by Medalist Sand-Knit, a division of MacGregor Sporting Goods, a size "44" label is sewn to the inner collar alongside another one that denotes it as a garment "tailored exclusively for the Golden State Warriors". With Barry's number "2" penned over the size tag in black marker ink, a swatch with an embroidered "87" year designation is also found over the inner collar as well as others specifying that three (3) extra inches have been added to the length of the shirt. Decorated over the right breast with a sewn on NBA league logo patch, "Warriors" is screened on across the front in yellow and blue dual layer letters while knitted blue, white and yellow accents are found around the collar, ends of both cuffs and hem. Remaining in excellent condition and free from any major flaws other than a couple of small spot stains to the body, the shirt was acquired by our consignor from a Warriors equipment manager while they were visiting Oakland for an exhibition game with the Detroit Red Wings.
Additionally, also included with the shooting shirt is a Warriors practice jersey from the same era. Also made by Sand-Knit, the reversible garment with a blue outer layer and a white inner one has had a brand tag displaying a size "M" designation affixed inside the white layer as well as a similar exclusivity label and a washing instructions fly tag as well. With "Warriors" screened on over the chest of both layers, the NBA and MacGregor crown logos are screened on in matching style over the left collar bone of both layers as well while the jersey remains in virtually new-old-stock condition and shows no player identifiers.
