Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024

A Canadian professional wrestler best known by his ring name "Whipper" Billy Watson, he was a two-time world champion, having held both the National Wrestling Association title and the National Wrestling Alliance titles at times in his career. A star attraction at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto who would eventually be inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 1995, offered here is this pair of Whipper's Beverages bottles. Standing a total of 8" in height and made of either green coloured or clear glass, the bottles date between 1948 and 1951 while displaying a pose of Whipper with his British Empire Title from the mid 1940's on the front while the back of the neck had 'The Champion of Drinks.' Also showing a wrestling hold illustration on the reverse of the bottle with the name of the hold below it, the green glass example remains in excellent condition throughout with only light wear to the glass and graphics while the clear glass specimen shows graphics largely in the same condition with the glass itself showing a bit more wear to make mention of. Additionally, the clear example has dried residue on the interior and a heavily deteriorated cap over the top that sports some holes in it. With no cracks to either bottle, don't let these rarities pass you and your all-important wrestling collection by.
