A member of the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame, with his 28 Olympic games-played a record among Russian national team players, Darius Kasparaitis enjoyed an especially lengthy NHL career, with numerous seasons spent with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders while also enjoying stints with the Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers as well. A three-time Olympic medalist and a veteran of 863 National Hockey League game, offered here is this Pittsburgh Penguins third jersey worn by Kasparaitis during the 2001-02 campaign, his final season with the club. Made by Koho and sporting a size "52" label affixed to the inner collar, his number "11" has been penned over the label in black marker ink. Having had a Koho logo patch added over the reverse neckline and the NHL shield embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with a Penguins team crest that features both textured and embroidered details throughout its entirety. Displaying the distinguished alternate captain's "A" over the left breast and Kasparaitis' number "11" over the sleeves and verso in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Kasparaitis" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse while matching alternate logo patches have been added atop of both shoulders. Exhibiting excellent game-wear throughout, stick marks are present over the front, reverse and both sleeves, there is also a couple of light spot stains at the right cuff as well. Showing additional wear via good pilling on the interior behind the crest and at the shoulders, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #724008 and #724029 (December 11th, 2001 vs Washington) to the loose white threads at the top of the Penguin head in the team crest and first "1" on the left sleeve. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Kasparaitis will accompany the piece.
