Scoring the pivotal game-winning goal that demoralized the Americans and secured Canada’s first Olympic gold medal in half a century, Joe Sakic would score four points during the final match vs the US at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, more than enough to earn tournament MVP honours and help Canada secure their first Olympic gold medal in fifty (50) years. Back in the red and white of Canada for the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, "Burnaby Joe" would chip in six (6) points in six (6) games played, including three (3) points in the quarter-final versus Russia and a goal in the gold medal game versus Finland. Eventually winning gold by a score of 3-2, offered here is this Team Canada jersey worn by Sakic during the monumental tournament. Made by Nike, the company's brand/size "54" tag is affixed to the inner collar along with additional "IIHF Authentic Collection" and "Made in Canada" labels as well. Accented over the reverse hem with an IIHF logo patch, Nike "swoosh" logos are present over the reverse neckline and right breast while the front of the jersey has been decorated with a Hockey Canada team crest that features embroidered details throughout. Having had the 2004 World Cup of Hockey event patch sewn on over the left breast, matching Team Canada alternate logo patches have been added over both shoulders and a Nike Team Sports barcode has been heat-pressed inside the reverse hem. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Sakic's number "91" in dual layer red-over-black tackle twill numerals, "Sakic" is spelt out in single layer black twill letters that have been heat-pressed on across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Exhibiting light game-wear, pilling is present over both forearms from rubbing up against Sakic's gloves while a small mark is observed near the right cuff as well. Sporting additional wear via more light pilling over the front hem, good pilling is found on the interior of both elbows as well. Worn by one of the game’s all-time greatest players, the jersey is accompanied by an NHL/NHLPA COA.
