Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
The premier set issued by Canadian company Parkhurst and difficult to find in high-grade condition due to the poor quality of cardstock that was used, the 1951-52 Parkies set of 105-cards featured the iconic first-year cardboard of HOFers such as Gordie Howe, Terry Sawchuk and of course, Maurice Richard with this copy of “Rocket’s” RC recently earning a grade of VG 3 for its effort from the inspectors at PSA. Off-center a bit from right-to-left and sporting only even very light toning throughout both sides of the desirable cardboard, the card retains stunning colours and corners that are fairly sharp all the way around, with the top two (2) points showing slight dings that are worthy of mention for accuracy. Showing one (1) very slight mark over the middle of the reverse that doesn't at all take away from the appeal of the card, a small print mark is also observed at the left edge near the bottom left corner of the image. Card #4 in the set with a small bio on Richard at the bottom, the card displays beautifully overall for its grade and would sure provide a boost to your vintage collection. Housed in a nearly flawless PSA holder (one small scratch over the bottom on the reverse, don't miss out on this one!
