Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Playing 460 of his 550 games in the National Hockey League in the famed bleu, blanc et rouge of the Montreal Canadiens, Howie Morenz helped the "Flying Frenchmen" to a trio of Stanley Cup championships during his time with the club and won three (3) Hart Memorial Trophy's as the NHL's Most Valuable Player. Having had his numbered retired by the Habs upon his death in 1937, the first time the team had bestowed the honour upon a player, Morenz would go on to be posthumously inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1945 as one of the original nine inductees. Pictured here on the front of his 1933-34 Canadian Gum V252 hockey card, this copy of the desirable cardboard picturing "The Stratford Streak" has been deemed worthy of a respectable VG-EX 4 designation from the graders over at PSA. Displaying off-center from bottom-to-top and showing with some light staining and toning over the front along with a bit of wear to all four (4) corners, the back remains quite clean with just a bit of the red ink from the front coming through while the PSA holder presents in good condition with just a small number of scratches and scuffs to make you aware of.
