Leading the NHL in penalty minutes twice during his career, Sean Avery went undrafted, and first signed with Detroit as a free agent in 1999. The North York native would represent four different NHL clubs, and conclude his tenure in the AHL with Connecticut. One of the more colourful figures in the game during his time, up for grabs here is this Los Angles Kings "Vintage" series jersey worn by him during the club's game against the St. Louis Blues on November 15th, 2003. Made by CCM and sporting a size "52" label affixed to the inner collar, the air-knit construction garment modelled after the jerseys worn by Los Angeles in the early-to-mid-1980s has had the NHL shield embroidered into the reverse hem alongside a CCM logo patch that has been sewn on. Decorated over the front with a Kings crown team crest that features embroidered details throughout its entirety, the NHL's Vintage Series program patch has been added over the right breast. Styled on the sleeves and verso with Avery's number "19" in dual layer tackle twill numerals, "Avery" is spelt out in single layer yellow twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate across the top of the reverse. Showing good game-wear despite being worn for just a single game, both stick marks and board burns are observed over both sleeves while additional stick marks are present over both hips as well. Having had a MeiGray tag numbered "B10317" sewn inside the reverse hem, according to the company's population report, the jersey is a "Purple Vintage Set 1 - Worn 11/15/03 vs St. Louis" specimen. Not including the matching MeiGray LOA, a different LOA will accompany the piece.
