A two-time All-American with Cornell, Joe Nieuwendyk was presented with the Calder Memorial for his remarkable rookie season in 1987-88, where he scored 92 points in 72 games. The Oshawa native would win Stanley Cup championships with three different clubs, and earn enshrinement in the Hall of Fame. Hailing from the 1999-2000 season when Nieuwendyk posted 34 points in 48 regular season games played, offered here is this Dallas Stars jersey donned by him during the 2000 Stanley Cup Playoffs including the Cup Finals against the New Jersey Devils. Made by CCM and sporting both size “58” and “Made in Canada” tags affixed to the inner collar, the CCM and NHL shield logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Stars team crest that features both textured and embroidered details throughout, the distinguished alternate captain's "A" has been added over the left breast while matching State of Texas alternate logo patches have been placed on top of both shoulders. Sporting the NHL2000 and 2000 Stanley Cup Finals patches over the right breast, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have had Nieuwendyk's number "25" sewn to them in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Nieuwendyk" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting good game-wear throughout, including stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves, board burns are found in the same areas while team repairs grace the right forearm and lower front. With sweat staining seen around the area of the collar and other light spot stains strung throughout the piece, an IceViolence tag is attached to the fight strap on the interior, which has been marked with three (3) black marker ink dots at the top to denote it as a set three (3) offering. Having been both photo and video-matched, the jersey is photo-matched with Getty Image #72304302 (April 21st, 2000 vs Edmonton - Western Conference Quarterfinals Game 5) to the stick mark above the NHL2000 patch while screen grabs taken from footage of both Game 4 and Game 6 have been matched to the same stick mark as seen in the photo. A Stars LOA and a MeiGray COR will accompany the piece along with copies of their photo-matches as well.
