Drafted 30th overall by the New York Rangers in 1981, Jan Erixon began his National Hockey League career with the Blueshirts during the 1983-84 season and would call the bright lights of Manhattan and Madison Square Garden home for his entire 556 games NHL career. Suiting up for his native Sweden on numerous occasions throughout his career and ranked 81st in the 2009 book "100 Ranger Greats", offered here is this jersey worn by Erixon during the late-1980s. A heavy-weight construction garment made by CCM that dates to either the 1988-89 or 1989-90 seasons, brand labeling displaying a heavily washed out size "52" designation is affixed to the inner collar along with a label from equipment provider and customizer Gerry Cosby's. Decorated over the front with "Rangers" going diagonally down the chest from right-to-left in individually applied drop-shadow blue-over-red tackle twill letters, the sleeves and verso have had Erixon's number "20" sewn to them in matching style blue-over-red drop-shadow tackle twill numerals while "Erixon" is spelt out in letters have been affixed directly to the material at the upper reverse, once again in matching blue-over-red drop-shadow style. Featuring a CCM logo embroidered into the reverse hem and sporting the original fight strap on the interior, the jersey exhibits heavy game-wear throughout via numerous stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves and board burns over both sleeves as well while approximately eighteen (18) team repairs by our count are dotted throughout the sleeves and lower front. Displaying pilling and fraying on the interior, an IceViolence inventory tag is attached to the fight strap. Of note, light brown spot staining is observed throughout the entirety of the piece as well.
