Discovered in packs while the Detroit Red Wings were heading towards a record seventh straight regular season championship and a fourth Stanley Cup title in six years were Parkhurst cards like these, with the offered starter set that features 32 of the 100 cards that make up the set stepping up to the auction block here. Spearheaded by PSA graded cards of both Tim Horton and Terry Sawchuk that have earned marks of EX 5 and GOOD 2 respectively, both are housed in PSA holders that remain in good condition and show just light wear via a very small number of tiny scratches that are worth mentioning for accuracy. Including duplicate cards of 12-Mosdell (1), 23-Stewart (2 - 1 with premium back), 36-Delvecchio (1), 64-Sandford (1), 80-Gee (1 w/ premium back), 82-Saskamoose (1) and 87-Gadsby (1), the rest of the group includes raw ungraded EX to EX-MT condition leaders of 42-Kelly and 70-Howell (Premium Back - off-center top-to-bottom) while 36-Delvecchio (slight corner wear), 46-Lindsay (slight corner wear) and 87-Gadsby (slight corner wear) are all in the scope of EX condition. Also featuring VG to VG-EX cards of 1-McNeil (corner wear - off-center top-to-bottom), 14-Harvey (corner wear), 24-Armstrong (Premium Back - corner wear - off-center top-to-bottom) and 29-Kennedy (small dings at left side corners - off-center top-to-bottom), it is also worth pointing out that the extra included copies of Alex Delvecchio and Bill Gadsby are also in the VG to VG-EX vicinity with Delvecchio sporting a small top left corner ding and the Gadsby some discolouration and centering issues top-to-bottom. Rounding out the group with a FR to G condition range copy of 96-Sawchuk In Action (paper loss on back and glue stains) the breakdown of the remaining cards includes thirteen (13) in the neighbourhood of EX and thirteen (13) in the proximity of EX to EX-MT. Overall, a classic vintage starter assembly awaiting its new home!
