Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
The classic battle for world hockey supremacy, the 1972 Summit Series will be forever remembered as the ultimate clash between western and eastern powers, with the Canadians retaining their dominance over the Soviets. Offered here, we present this collection of cards totalling twenty (20) that have been signed by players from both sides that took part in the legendary international affair. All having been penned on cards from either the 1992 '72 Hockey Canada set by Future Trends that was released for the 20th anniversary of the series or In The Game's "1972 The Year in Hockey" set from 2009, all the cards appear to remain in good condition with no obscene flaws after quick inspection. With the autographs having all been signed in either blue, black or gold coloured marker ink or blue ballpoint pen, included are signatures from Paul Henderson (x2) and Bill Goldsworthy of Team Canada as well as Soviet team members Yakushev (x7), Tretiak (x2), Starshinov, Petrov, Blinov, Liapkin (x2), Maltsev (x2), Anisin, Mishakov and Gusev. With all the autographs remaining in excellent condition and displaying without issue while remaining fully legible (the signatures in ballpoint pen appear a bit light from age), don't miss out on this lot of international star power!
