Released during seasons that saw the likes of the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, New York Mets, Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers capture World Series championships at the end of the respective years, offered here is this collection of complete baseball card sets released by O-Pee-Chee that date between 1984 and 1988 totalling five (5). All featuring a heavy concentration of players from the north of the border based Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays, the oldest of the five (5) sets, dating from 1984, features a checklist of 396 and is found in the overall condition state of EX-MT to NM with the cards displaying with a slight curve to them from humidity. Headlined by an EX to EX-MT example of Don Mattingly's RC that has a tiny bottom left corner ding, Darryl Strawberry's RC is seen as being in the condition state of EX-MT to NM along with the key cards of 30-Boggs, 64-Sandberg, 66-Ryan and 363-Ripken. For the 1985 release, also featuring a checklist of 396-cards and found in the consistent condition range of EX-MT to NM throughout, the key RC of Kirby Puckett is found in the range of EX-MT due to a tiny top left corner ding while EX-MT to NM cards include those of 30-Ripken, 63-Ryan, 296-Sandberg, 350-Boggs and 383-Gwynn. With the other three (3) sets all seemingly in the familiar EX-MT to NM condition range after inspection that we have already seen with the first two (2), the 1986 OPC release includes the likes of 1-Rose, 100-Ryan, 262-Boggs, 300-Brett and 340-Ripken in the top end condition neighbourhood while the 1987 OPC release includes the key cards of 150-Boggs, 155-Ryan, 198-Gwynn, 247-Canseco (1st OPC card), 312-Ripken, 320-Bonds RC and 361-Clark RC and an extra copy of card #126 that pictures George Brett over the front. Lastly, for the 1988 set, paced by more EX-MT to NM cardboard of 250-Ryan, 267-Bonds (2nd card), 312-Brett, 360-Gwynn, 361-Maddux and 394-McGwire, the cards of 74-Ripken and 200-Boggs are both closer to EX-MT due to a small top right corner ding and a small dot mark on respectively while card #330 is creased and worth noting for accuracy. With all of the checklist cards unmarked and the rest of the star players in each set in a condition that is consistent with the overall condition ranges, the group makes a wonderful collection of 80s cardboard featuring the best names from the boys of summer to add to your all-important vintage collection.
