Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Offered here, we present this pair of Gordie Howe autographed memorabilia cards. Featuring a 2004 Upper Deck SP Game Used Hawaii Trade Conference "All-Star Patches" card and a 2005-06 Upper Deck The Cup "Hardware Heroes" card, both examples display Howe as a member of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and feature swatches of material cut from Red Wings jerseys worn by the 1972 HHOF inductee embedded into the front of each, with the example in the 2004 SP Game Used offering having been cut from the framed winged wheel front crest and displaying beautiful chain-stitched details. Serial numbered "09/10" and "5/6" respectively over the front of both cards, Howe's instantly recognizable autograph is penned over both faces as well in bold blue marker ink that displays without issue and is accompanied by his famed "Mr. Hockey" annotation in matching style and condition. Both remaining in excellent condition and exhibiting just some light evidence of edge and corner wear that is worth mentioning for accuracy, don't miss out on this pair of seldom seen esteemed examples for your all-important collection!
