Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Coming off of a season that featured zero National Hockey League play and saw a rookie class that was headlined by Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby and Washington's Alexander Ovechkin, the 2005-06 season ushered in a new era for the NHL, with both of the phenoms named above going on to become integral parts of their respective teams' Stanley Cup runs. One of the “ultimately” best memorabilia offerings of the mid-to-late-2000s, In The Game’s Ultimate Memorabilia releases were sure to provide collectors a premium offering that included both current day stars while putting a big focus on the greats of the game who were always the main subject of stories of yesteryear via base, memorabilia and autograph offerings. Up for grabs as part of this lot, is this grouping of six (6) cards from ITG's Ultimate Memorabilia 6th edition release. Highlighted by an Ultimate Memorabilia Triple Silver offering of Montreal Canadiens star Maurice Richard that is serial numbered "07/20" and features pieces taken from a skate, glove and stick worn/used by "Rocket". Also including an "Ultimate Game-Used Jersey & Autograph Gold" of Marcel Dionne that is serial numbered "07/10" and a "Double Autograph/Memorabilia" of Toronto Maple Leafs legends Dave Keon and Ted Kennedy, the card sports a swatch of jersey worn by Keon and a piece of glove worn by Kennedy embedded into the front of the card while both men have signed alongside their names with beautiful black marker ink signatures that display without issue. Also including an "Ultimate Autograph Gold" card of Bobby Clarke that is serial numbered "03/10" and signed by him over the front with a flawless black marker ink signature, the final two cards included with the lot come in the form of "Base Card Series Three" and "Base Card Series Four" offerings of Aurel Joliat ("11/40") and Bernie Geoffrion ("03/30") respectively. All housed in ITG/Beckett holders that remain in good condition and show just some light scratches and scuffs that are worth pointing out for accuracy, don't miss out on these beauties for your all-important collection!
