Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, offered here is this trio of cards autographed by Howe that hail from Parkhurst releases from 1993-94, 1994-95 and 2006-07. Three different cards all picturing Howe at different portions of his career as a member of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings, the vintage style cardboard offerings include two (2) that are the standard hockey card size as well as one larger "tall-boys" specimen that is reminiscent of the Topps release from 1964-65. Having been signed over the front of each with black or blue marker ink signatures that display well and without issue despite some light fading from age that is seen on all three (3) of the included cards, it is worth mentioning that the card from 1993-94 is hand serial numbered "520/956" on the reverse while the 1994-95 "Tall Boys" card sports a similar "027/964" over its reverse as well. All remaining in their raw ungraded form, all three (3) cards remain in overall excellent condition with just some light edge and corner wear worth making mention of for accuracy as well as a bit of light toning that is observed on the 1993-94 example with the white background.
