Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, offered here is this trio of cards autographed by Howe that hail from Upper Deck's 2002-03 Premier Collection release. All displaying with imagery of Howe during his days in the National Hockey League as a member of the Detroit Red Wings, the three (3) cards represent a complete run of the "Premier Signatures" cards of Howe and includes the "Bronze", "Silver" and "Gold" variations. Each having been signed by Howe over the front with crisp blue marker ink signatures that display without issue, the four-time Stanley Cup champion has added his famed "Mr. Hockey" annotation underneath all three (3) of his instantly recognizable signatures. With the "Silver" parallel serial numbered "81/125" and the "Gold" "18/50", the cards all remain in excellent condition, displaying just light corner and edge wear over each.
