Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, offered here is this trio of cards autographed by Howe that hail from the 1999-2000 Upper Deck Ovation release as part of the "Super Signatures" subset. All displaying with imagery of Howe during his days in the National Hockey League as a member of the Detroit Red Wings and including all three (3) variations of the desirable autographed cardboard, present are the "Regular" ("81/99"), "Gold" ("41/50") and "Rainbow" ("25/25") variations, which have each been hard signed by Howe with crisp blue marker ink signatures that display without issue. All hand serial numbered in ink matching that of the autographs at the bottom right hand corner, which also displays the period of time that Howe spent in the National Hockey League, the cards are all found remaining in their original raw ungraded form and display in excellent condition with just some light corner and edge wear being observed throughout the group.
