Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972 and coming out of retirement a year later to join the rival WHA and take the chance to suit up with his sons Mark and Marty, offered here is this 2003-04 Upper Deck SP Authentic "Sign of the Times" triple-signed card of the elder Howe and his two boys. Serial numbered "04/25" in silver foil at the top left hand corner and showing all three (3) members of hockey's first family during their days as members of the WHA's Houston Aeros, with whom they would win championships with in 1974 and 1975, all three (3) Howe's have signed over the front of the card alongside their respective images with crisp blue marker ink signatures that display without issue. With Gordie also having added his famed "Mr. Hockey" moniker to his instantly recognizable autograph as well, the card remains in excellent condition with just light touches of edge and corner wear observed throughout the desirable cardboard.
