Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
The most significant pre-war sports card set of all-time, the famed T206 baseball release features a checklist of 524 cards including over 100 minor league players, numerous Hall of Fame inductees, multiple cards for the same player in different poses, different uniforms, or even with different teams after being traded, since the set was issued over a period of three years, from 1909 to 1911. With the most significant card being that of Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Honus Wagner, offered here is this trio of 1909-11 T206 baseball cards of Jimmy Dygert, Lena Blackburne and Jimmy Lavender. All pictured as members of the Eastern League's Providence Grays, all three (3) cards are Sweet Corporal back specimens with good colours over the fronts of each card. In terms of conditions, the Blackburne card is seen as being in the range of G to VG with a tiny surface wrinkle and lightly rounded corners to speak of while the Dygert is around the scope of VG to VG-EX with lightly rounded corners. Rounding out the group with the cardboard of Jimmy Lavender, who sees his card fall into the range of GOOD for its effort, with a faded back, small crease and rounded corners worth mentioning for accuracy.
