Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Combining to play a combined total of 3257 games in their National Hockey League careers that spanned a total of 45 years, offered here is this trio of sticks used by the likes of Brian Rafalski, Pat Verbeek and Bernie Federko during their respective time in Motown as members of the Detroit Red Wings. A mix of Mission (Rafalski), Christian (Verbeek) and Titan (Federko) made twigs, each displays factory graphics or stamps of their original owners name on the upper shafts. All retaining their original tape jobs over their handles/knobs as well as their blades, it is worth mentioning that both Verbeek and Federko have added their jersey number to either the bottom of the handle tape or upper shafts on their sticks in handwritten black marker ink numerals and that Rafalski's stick sports a shaved handle and has had about half of its black coloured blade tape removed at some point. All structurally sound and appearing to be free from and cracks or breaks, the sticks all show good game-use in the form of numerous marks and abrasions throughout the lengths of the shafts, lower shafts, heels and any untaped sections of the blades while the blade tape on all three (3) sticks show marks over both sides. Additionally, the Verbeek stick has numerous tears/cuts to the blade tape as well as wear to the bottom of the tape as well. With both the Verbeek and Federko sticks having been signed with either blue or black marker ink signatures that display without issue, the Federko stick includes a personalization and an inscription.
