Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
One of the key cards in Topps' inaugural hockey card issue, Terry Sawchuk's example is found as card #58 in the 60-card checklist, which was released during a year that saw him lead his Detroit Red Wings to their second of back-to-back Stanley Cup championships, posting a record of 40-17-11 with twelve (12) shutouts to take home the third Vezina Trophy in his career as the NHL's best goaltender. Made even more appealing by the fact that Terry has signed over the front of the card with a vintage blue ballpoint pen ink signature, the autograph, showing with some light smudging and fading from, has been deemed to be "AUTHENTIC" after inspection by the authenticators at PSA. Displaying well and easily made out even after all these years, the card itself sports moderate toning on the reverse as well as wear to all four (4) corners while retaining beautiful and vivid colours for the front image. Also appearing to show a faint corner crease the top right point, the card isoused in a PSA holder that sports some very light scratches over both sides, don't miss out on this early career autograph from one of the best goalies to ever wear the pads in the National Hockey League.
