The greatness of Terry Sawchuk early in his NHL career is told in part by the write-up on the back of his 1953-54 Parkhurst card, the text commencing, "Terry is ranked among the greatest goaltenders to ever mind a net" and going onto tell of his Calder Trophy in '50-51 , his two Vezina Trophy wins and his three All-Star Team selections - what a start to an illustrious career - with Terry backstopping the Red Wings to the Stanley Cup the same season as cards like this were discovered in Parkie packs. Made even more appealing by the blue fountain pen ink autograph that Terry has penned over the front of the card, above his printed on facsimile signature, the autograph, showing with some light smudging at "Y" in "Terry" and the middle letters of "Sawchuk", has been deemed to be "AUTHENTIC" after inspection by the authenticators at PSA. Displaying well and easily made out even after all these years, the card itself sports moderate-to-heavy toning at the edges and dings to all four (4) corners, heaviest at the bottom right and top left. Also appearing to show a faint corner crease the top right point, the image over the front as well as the reverse are well centered and help contribute to the card's visual appeal. Housed in a PSA holder that sports some scratches and scuffs over both sides, don't miss out on this early career autograph from one of the best goalies to ever wear the pads in the National Hockey League.
