Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Many collectors of pre-war material, as well as postcard enthusiasts, have always been fascinated and charmed by the black and white postcards that were issued in copies of the boy's magazine "Triumph" beginning in January of 1936 in conjunction with the postcards featuring different players. Offered here, we present this complete set of 1936 Triumph hockey postcards that have all been graded by either PSA or SGC. Paced by a PSA NM 7 example of Lionel Conacher that is a POP-2 second highest graded example that is bested by only a single PSA 8, other players featured in the set include; Ching Johnson (PSA EX+ 5.5), Busher Jackson (PSA EX 5), Roy Worters (PSA EX 5), Nick Metz (PSA VG-EX 4), Eddie Shore (PSA VG-EX 4), Herbie Lewis (PSA VG-EX 4), Baldy Northcott (SGC VG 3), Sylvio Mantha (PSA PR 1) and Paul Thompson (SGC "AUTHENTIC"). All housed in holders that remain in excellent condition with some void of flaws at all, also included with the lot are extras totalling four (4) that include the likes of a graded Baldy Northcott (PSA FR 1.5) and raw examples of Herbie Lewis, Roy Worters and Sylvio Mantha, all of which are in the grade ranges of PR to FR due to either have creasing, staining, marks and edge/corner wear or from having been glued into a scrapbook at one time. Lastly, included with the lot is a Triumph cigarette card album that remains in good condition and shows some toning as well as light creasing, corner/edge and handling wear that is worthy of mention.
