Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024

Always in the “greatest player of all-time” conversation, Bobby Orr appears here on his coveted and forever-popular rookie card to headline this 1966-67 Topps near-complete set. Starting with the Orr, having just been graded by PSA, the card has been deemed worthy of a VG-EX 4 mark while also showing an "MC" (miscut) qualifier over its label as well due to the fact that you can see the bottom portion of Bobby Hull's name at the top edge. Retaining overall nice colours and clean edges while obviously being off-center from bottom-to-top, light corner wear is worth mentioning as well while the PSA holder is found to be in immaculate shape. For the rest of the near-complete contingent, the group is found to be in the condition range of EX to EX-MT throughout though it is worth mentioning that all the cards included do have a humidity curve. Additionally, missing for completion are cards; 1-Blake, 9, 11, 21-Francis, 42, 48, 51, 56, 58, 74, 79-Kelly, 82, 89, 97, 99, 102-Delvecchio, 107, 110, 115 and 130-Worsley AS. For the key cards, condition leaders include EX-MT to NM examples of 62-Mikita, 80-Horton, 112-Hull, 121-Howe AS and 127-Beliveau AS (wax on the front) while cards viewed in the neighbourhood of EX to EX-MT include 23-Giacomin (slight corner wear), 54-Hall (slight wear at the bottom left corner), 63-Esposito (print line on left border), 72-Cournoyer (slight corner wear and wax stains), 77-Mahovlich (light border wear), 78-Keon (slight corner wear), 124-Mikita AS (60-40 centering plus print line) and 125-Hull AS (60-40 centering plus print line). Also include VG-EX to EX copies of 73-Beliveau (95-5 centering and slightly miscut), 109-Howe (small corner dings) and 120-Checklist (marked), rounding out the notables is a VG-EX range example of 64-Hull (miscut on bottom) and a GOOD vicinity copy of 66-Checklist (marked and creased). Additionally, it is worth mentioning that cards #'d 30, 46, 52 and 87 all have a crease. All in all, an alluring group that is sure to garner interest in the way that only Bobby Orr and company can!
