This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
The first player to reach the 500 goal mark in his National Hockey League career, Maurice Richard would also become the first man to register 50 goals in 50 games. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961 upon the conclusion of a career that saw him win eight (8) Stanley Cup championships as well as a Hart Trophy in 1947, "The Rocket" was also the first non-politician to be given a state funeral by the province of Quebec upon his passing in 2000. Still regarded as one of the most important French Canadians in history as well as one of the greatest NHL players of all-time, offered here is this lot featuring signed memorabilia pertaining to the man known simply as "The Rocket". First, included is a signed framed photo display of Maurice. Measuring out to full dimensions of 14" x 16", the 8" x 10" black and white image of RIchard wrapping his arms around the Stanley Cup has been signed by him with a gold marker ink signature that displays without issue. Housed in a gold coloured metal frame that makes the signature pop to the viewer, a simple plaque reading "Maurice Richard - The Rocket". In good condition overall, the frame shows light wear to the corners and edges worth mentioning for accuracy. Also including a copy of the book titled "Maurice Richard - Reluctant Hero", the piece of literature was purchased directly from the Montreal Canadiens team store and remains in overall excellent condition with just light handling wear observed. Signed over the first page by the likes Maurice's little brother, Henri Richard, as well as Jean Beliveau, Yvan Cournoyer, Guy Lafleur and Rejean Houle, all the autographs display well with all except for the one of Lafleur showing moderate fading from age. Additionally, our consignor has penned a notation inside the front cover in silver ink.
Hailing from the personal collection of former Team Canada team physician, Dr. Michel Parayre, his signed LOA will accompany the lot
