The classic battle for world hockey supremacy, the 1972 Canada-Russia Series will be forever remembered as the ultimate clash between western and eastern powers, with the Canadians victorious, retaining their dominance over the Soviets and the sport at large. Offered here, we present this framed display the features thirty-eight (38) cards from the 1991-92 Future Trends Canada ’72 release. Measuring out to full dimensions of roughly 36" x 32" with everything housed in a black coloured frame that shows some wear to the edges and corners that is worth pointing out for accuracy, an 8" x 10" image of Paul Henderson's famous series winning goal is found in the middle of the piece, sporting an autograph that has been done in black ink which displays without issue, while a plaque reading "1972 Summit Series Champions - Canada's Team of the Century" is placed at the bottom of the display and is flanked on either side by either a Team of the Century lapel pin or coin. Including cards that have have been signed by Peter Mahovlich and his HOFer brother, Frank, series hero Paul Henderson, deceased HOFers Stan Mikita, Tony Esposito and Rod Gilbert, HOFers Phil Esposito, Ken Dryden, Brad Park, Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe, Yvan Cournoyer, Bobby Clarke, Gilbert Perreault and Marcel Dionne, deceased team members Gary Bergman, J.P. Parise, Bill Goldsworthy, Rick Martin, Pat Stapleton, Bill White, Brian Glennie and assistant coach John Ferguson, plus head coach and HOFer Harry Sinden as well as Ed Johnston, Ron Ellis, Dennis Hull, Vic Hadfield, Wayne Cashman, Rod Seiling, Mickey Redmond, Red Berenson, Don Awrey, Dale Tallon, Jean Ratelle, Jocelyn Guevremont and trainer Joe Sgro plus then Canadian Prime Minster, Pierre Trudeau. All displayed under a simple flat black matte, the autographs all appear strong and legible despite some showing a but of fading from age and all have been penned in either blue or gold marker ink. A stunning piece worthy of the greatest collections, it should be noted that these cards are not the ones inserted into packs at a rate of only one or two cards per case and specially coated with a swirl pattern over the signatures as these were signed at a later date.
