This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Taking place on January 18, 1977 at the Hartford Civic Center, the fifth edition of the midseason classic for the WHA saw the East All-Stars, led by Real Cloutier and J.C. Tremblay, skate away with a 4-2 win over Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull and the rest of the Western combatants. Hailing from a season that saw him register 50 points in 81 games played in his lone season with the San Diego Mariners, offered here is this jersey worn by Paul Schmyr during the 1976-77 WHA All-Star contest. A light weight blue mesh offering with Gerry Cosby tagging affixed to the inner collar, the jersey measures out to a size “46”. Sporting Schmyr's number "3" over the sleeves and verso in sewn-on dual layer red-over-white tackle twill numerals, "Schmyr" is spelt out in single layer white tackle twill letters that have been affixed directly to the jersey across the top of the back. With the WHA crest, stripes, stars, and “WHA” on the front and rear tails are all heat-screened vinyl, the jersey exhibits game-wear in the form of a couple of stick marks through the team crest on the front, a small stick mark over the right sleeve and a pair of board burns over the left sleeve. Additionally, blue coloured board paint transfer marks are found over both shoulders and liquid plus spot stains are observed throughout the piece, heaviest on the reverse and left sleeve.
