In addition to laying down the law in leagues such as the Ontario Hockey Association and North American Hockey League, Gene Kusy would serve as a linesman in the rival league of the World Hockey Association during its entire lifespan between 1972 and 1979. Offered here, and able to be traced back directly to Kusy's personal collection, is this WHA linesman jersey worn by him during the early-1970s. A traditional black-and-white striped zebra look with no league patch on the front in contrast to the colorful red-white-and-blue sweaters worn by the league's referees, the wool construction garement with a zipper over the upper front sports Gerry Cosby tagging affixed to the inner collar and measures out to roughly a size "40". In overall good condition despite numerous small moth holes throughout the piece, with the heaviest concentration of them in the left sleeve, and the zipper pull tab being broken off and lost to time, Kusy's number "22" is sewn over top of a rounded black twill patch that is affixed to the middle of the back in single layer white twill numbers. Coming accompanied by a copy of a letter of provenance originally penned by Kusy's son, Michael, don't miss out on this historical artifact from the early days of the WHA.
