This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Both abridgements of the Topps counterpart that was released south of the border, the 1982 and 1983 O-Pee-Chee baseball cards releases both featured a total of 396-cards in each set with the checklists skewed heavily towards the league's two (2) Canadian teams of the Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Expos. Including notable rookie cards of George Bell, Tim Wallach, Tony Gwynn and Ryne Sandberg as well as numerous other Hall of Famers and other stars, offered here is this lot consisting of complete sets of O-Pee-Chee's 1982 and 1983 baseball releases. Starting with the earlier of the two (2) sets, found to be in an overall high-grade condition range of EX-MT to NM for its effort, the three (3) checklist cards are all unmarked and two (2) copies of card #332 picturing Don Robinson are included. Led by key offerings of 18-Bench, 70-Raines, 90-Ryan, 100-Schmidt, 237-Yount (light wax residue), 244-Carter, 268-Henderson, 300-Jackson, 361-Rose and 379-Dawson in the scope of EX-MT to NM condition, card #187 of Rod Carew is seen as being in the neighbourhood of EX-MT with a small amount of fuzz at the top right corner and card #200 of George Brett is viewed in the vicinity of EX to EX-MT due to top right corner wear. For the 1983 release, also an EX-MT to NM range throughout assembly, once again all three (3) checklist cards are found in an unmarked state and the group contains two (2) copies of card #363 that pictures Eddie Milner on the front. With card #396, the last card which depicts the image of Dan Quisenberry (and is also his All-Star card) showcasing an elastic mark on the borders, the group is led by EX-MT to NM cardboard of 83-Sandberg RC, 100-Rose, 143-Gwynn RC (slight diamond cut), 163-Ripkin (1st OPC card), 180-Henderson, 300-Schmidt and 360-Ryan, the cards of 3-Brett (light elastic mark on left border) and 361-Ryan Super Veteran (tiny ding at bottom border) are both a bit worse off, more towards EX to EX-MT. With the other stars not listed in a condition that is consistent with the rest of the sets, don't miss out on these classic Canadian baseball assemblies for your all-important collection!
