Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Opening its doors just before the onset of The Great Depression in 1929, Chicago Stadium – also known as “The Madhouse on Madison” – housed the Chicago Black Hawks for 65 years, with its Barton pipe organ the envy of countless venues. We have a cushioned seat originally placed in the lower bowl of the famous arena. At approx 20” in width, the fabric-backed seat and back rest along with the metal hardware is all in solid red, with a small metal plate with black "17" affixed to the bottom of the seat, with a Chicago Stadium tag beneath. A pair of U-shaped metal bars are included (each shows some paint and surface rust), with these inserted into the bottom of the chair to facilitate a free-standing setup. The chair shows light wear to the fabric and metal components, with no large tears or unsightly damage. A COA has been affixed to the reverse of the seat back.
