Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
The last set ever released by Canadian company Parkhurst and often regarded as the most visually appealing of all those that were put out into the world by them, the 1963-64 Parkhurst hockey set featured a 99-card checklist that pictured players from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. Up for grabs here, is this 44-card starter set of that final release. Found to be in the overall low-grade condition state of FR to G and GOOD throughout, the key cards include GOOD range offerings of 27-Laperriere RC (light corner crease at top right), 30-Beliveau (crease at top right corner), 77-Mahovlich (crease at top left corner), 98-Worsley (crease at bottom left) and 99-Maniago RC (small crease at top left) while FR to G cards feature the likes of 16-Horton (creased and corner wear), 23-H. Richard (multiple creases), 29-Geoffrion (multiple creases), 32-Harper RC (rounded corners), 33-Ferguson RC (creased), 50-Delvecchio (multiple creases) and 75-Keon (worn - creased). Also including a copy of Jean Beliveau's card #89 that is creased and also around FR to G, it should be noted that any card not shown in the photos is missing and not included with the lot. Additionally, a group of six (6) 1961-62 Parkhurst cards are also present, all of which are in the vicinity of POOR condition and headlined by examples of Gordie Howe, Terry Sawchuk and Red Kelly.
