Two of the greatest to ever play in the National Hockey League and the topic of a long running debate on who is the better player, Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux paired up to score with 1:26 remaining to secure Canada the 1987 Canada Cup over the Soviet Union. Both the cover boys of the NHL during the 1980s and 1990s, offered here is this pair of jerseys individually signed jerseys of Gretzky and Lemieux. Starting with the Gretzky offering, a replica Western Conference offering in a style worn at NHL All-Star Games between 1994 and 1997, the CCM made garment has brand and size "XL" tagging affixed to the inner collar while a Western Conference crest has been added over the front that displays with embroidered details throughout. Blank on the sleeves and verso with a CCM logo screened over the reverse that displays with wear, Gretzky has signed over both the front and the back with black ink signatures that displays well despite some light fading from age. Additionally, the jersey itself is also in excellent condition unless noted above. For the Lemieux jersey, a 2002 Team Canada Olympic offering made by Nike, the pro style on-ice garment has size "48", brand and "Made in Canada" tagging affixed the inner collar while the front is styled with Hockey Canada’s familiar crest, partially embroidered, in tackle twill. Once again blank over the sleeves and verso, patches of the vintage Hockey Canada logo reside over the shoulders while on-ice elements such as a fight strap and reinforced elbows are found on the interior. Also remaining in overall good condition with some light wear around the collar, Lemieux has signed through the front crest with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue. A spectacular pair of signed jerseys, a JSA Auction LOA will accompany the piece.
