Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
The greatest player to ever grace the ice of the National Hockey League and still holding a total of 58 records set by him during his career even 25 seasons after he retired from the game, Wayne Gretzky would finally hang up the skates on his storied 20-year National Hockey League career in April of 1999, prompting Sports Illustrated to release a special edition tribute magazine profiling "The Great One". Offered here, we present this framed Sports Illustrated "Goodbye to The Great One: A Tribute" cover display that has been signed by Gretzky himself. Featuring a print of the tribute issue cover that measures roughly 14 1/2" x 19 1/2" that has been signed by Wayne over the left side with a silver marker ink signature that displays without issue, a plaque displaying some of Gretzky's career accolades is placed near the bottom of the display and is flanked on either side by Oilers and HHOF lapel pins. Double matted under blue and silver mattes, the entirety of the display is housed in a silver frame that measures out to approximately 24 1/2" x 32 1/2" for its effort, which also shows light wear to the edges and corners that is worth noting for accuracy. A JSA Auction LOA will accompany the piece.
Please note; While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit.
