Playing a total of 1195 games over the course of his 19-year National Hockey League career, Dave Babych would wear the uniforms of the Winnipeg Jets, Hartford Whalers, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings during that time after being drafted 2nd overall by the Jets in 1980. A product of the Portland Winter Hawks in the WHL, offered here is this Flyers jersey worn by Babych during his swan song season of 1998-99. Made by Nike and featuring brand/size "54", "Center Ice Authentic Collection" and "Made in Canada" labels affixed to the inner collar, both the NHL shield and Nike logos are found embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Flyers team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso of the garment have been accented with Babych's number "44" in dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Babych" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Having had Dave's number "44" penned to the Nike/size label that is affixed to the inner collar in black marker ink by Philly equipment man, Jim Evers, the garment shows game-wear in the form of stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves while a few small spot stains are present over the back of the right shoulder and are worthy of mention for accuracy. Exhibiting light pilling and fraying around the elbows on the interior and sweat staining around the collar, the fight strap shows signs of multiple washings and the jersey comes accompanied by an LOA from Milt Byron of Byron's HockeyLand stating that the jersey is a "98-99 2nd half" offering.
