Drafted 20th overall by the Minnesota Wild in 2003 as a forward who was then converted to a defenceman, Brent Burns, perhaps most recognizable for his beard and missing front teeth, has been named to the NHL All-Star Game on six (6) different occasions and was awarded the NHL's James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league's best blueliner in 2017. A gold medalist with Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Championships and 2016 World Cup of Hockey, offered here is this jersey worn by Burns during the 2017-18 season. Made by Adidas, a band displaying both "Made in Canada" and size "58" designations is sewn to the inner collar (with a washed out "2" penned in black ink above) while the front and reverse necklines are accented with the crests of both the NHL and Adidas respectively. Decorated over the front with a Sharks team crest that features embroidered details throughout, matching alternate logo patches have been placed over both shoulders and the NHL's 100th anniversary patch has been sewn onto the right sleeve. Having had Burns' number "88" added to the sleeves and verso in dual layer white-over-black tackle twill numerals, "Burns" is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting good game-wear, board burns are present over the lower front and both sleeves of the garment with one near the right elbow resulting in a hole that has not been repaired. WIth light pilling and fraying present on the interior, a Shark team tag has been heat pressed underneath the fight strap, dating the jersey to the 2017-2018 season and singling its use between September 18th and November 2nd. Additionally, the garment has been photo-matched with Getty Image #870391164 (November 1st, 2017 vs Nashville) to the heavy board burn that is seen at the bottom of the first "8" on the left sleeve.
