A chance to score a trio of complete classic O-Pee-Chee offerings from the decade of the 1980s is offered here, through these complete sets of the company's hockey releases that date from the 1981-82, 1984-85 and 1988-89 seasons of play for the National Hockey League. With the earliest two (2) of the three (3) sets each featuring a total of 396-cards in their checklist, the most recent of the three (3) sets is smaller in size, sporting a 264-card checklist for its effort.
Starting with the earliest of the trio, the 1981-82 release is found to be in the overall consistent condition ranges of EX to EX-MT and EX-MT to NM throughout its entirety with exceptions being cards #'d 2, 7, 83, 87, 93, 149, 154, 163, 185 and 198-Bossy, all of which sport creases or are lower grade examples. For the key cards, included are the likes of 1-Bourque (EX-MT to NM - 2nd card - slightly off-center top-to-bottom), 63-Savard RC (EX-MT to NM), 106-Gretzky (EX-MT to NM), 107-Kurri RC (EX-MT to NM - 20-20 centering), 111-Coffey RC (EX - surface snow), 120-Moog RC (EX - dent at left border), 125-Gretzky In Action (EX-MT to NM - 80-20 centering), 148-Murphy RC (EX-MT - completely off-center), 161-Ciccarelli RC (EX-MT to NM) and 269-Stastny RC (EX-MT to NM). Also including all three (3) checklist cards, all of which remain in their original unmarked state, it is worthy of mention that #380 is stained and that #381 has a dark back.
For the 1984-85 set, found in the overall uniform condition range of EX-MT to NM throughout, card #1 of Ray Bourque is in POOR condition due to a large crease. Including unmarked checklists, the key cards include; 17-Andreychuk RC (EX-MT to NM), 18-Barrasso RC (EX-MT to NM - 60-40 centering), 67-Yzerman RC (EX-MT to NM - tiny ding at top left), 129-Lafontaine RC (EX-MT to NM), 185-Gilmour RC (EX-MT to NM), 243-Gretzky (EX-MT to NM - tiny ding at top left), 254-Messier (EX-MT to NM), 259-Chelios RC (EX-MT to NM) and 327-Neely RC (EX to EX-MT - small surface bubble at the top left).
For the final set, from 1988-89, the grouping is found to be in the overall condition range of EX-MT to NM throughout with the checklists unmarked while the key cards include 1-Lemieux (EX to EX-MT - tiny ding at the bottom right), 16-Nieuwendyk RC (EX-MT to NM), 66-Hull RC (EX-MT to NM - slight surface snow), 116-Roy (EX-MT to NM - light diamond cut), 120-Gretzky (EX-MT to NM - 1st Kings card - slight diamond cut) and 122-Shanahan RC (EX-MT to NM).
