Red, white and BLUE! The color scheme of the seats at the old Montreal Forum reflected the Canadiens team colors as evidenced by this single blue #2 seat with Jean Beliveau lettering added, which was removed from the famous arena’s upper level after the final game was played there on March 11, 1996, this original seat offered all those that sat in it an amazing view to all the great action and performances that took place at the famous venue, with this example further augmented and made more desirable by the 65 former Canadiens greats that have signed over the seat back. At approx 37” in height, the original number “2” remains stencilled in white on the seat back, with the seat number, row and section where it was located added along with "Jean Beliveau", while a full colour Habs decal has been placed over the upper right. The added legs both sport embossed red Habs' logos with “1924-96”, with two 24” aluminum-alloy runners on each side serving as a base. Remaining in good condition overall, it is likely that the seat cushion was reupholstered at one time after the chair's removal from the arena based on the colour not matching the seat back, while the back itself shows some chipping of the beautiful blue paint around the edges and bottom right corner that exposes the wood underneath. Sporting light wear to the legs, the backside of the seat back shows some marks and paint chips as well.
Signed by the likes of sixty-five (65) former players that pulled on the famed sweater of Les Canadiens during their career, those that have signed the piece include; Beliveau, Lafleur, H. Richard, Chelios, Cournoyer, Moore, Shutt (x2), Gainey, Lapointe, Duff, Worsley, Damphousse (x2), Carbonneau, Savard, F. Mahovlich, Robinson, Geoffrion, Laperriere, Napier, Johnson, P. Mahovlich, Hodge, McNeil, Maniago, Tremblay, Goyette, Harper, Ferguson, Keane, Awrey, Gilmour, Green, Gardner, Litzenberger, Lemieux and many others. All the autographs largely remain fully legible and easy to read having been signed in black or blue marker ink while a couple show varying stages of fading from age. Overall an wonderful piece of Canadiens history to add to your all-important collection.
