This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
A chance to score a duo of complete O-Pee-Chee offerings from the mid-1970s is offered here, through these complete 1975-76 and 1976-77 sets up on the auction block. The 75-76 set, overall in the condition ranges of VG-EX to EX, EX to EX-MT and EX-MT to NM with the grades sometimes hard to make out due to the fact that all the cards are housed in top loaders, the group is spearheaded by an EX-MT to NM vicinity copy of card #241 that pictures Larry Robinson while his Montreal Canadiens teammate, Ken Dryden, see's his card, #35 in the checklist, in the scope of EX-MT condition with a slight surface bubble and 60-40 centring. Also including EX to EX-MT vicinity cards of 100-Orr (90-10 centering), 126-Lafleur (90-10 centering), 140-Dionne (light corner wear), 267-Checklist (unmarked - light corner wear) and 288-Orr AS (light corner wear), the card of Clark Gillies (#199) is seen as being in EX shape (slight miscut at the top) while card #99, the checklist card, is found in the neighborhood of VG-EX to EX while remaining unmarked and sporting a small bend at the bottom right corner. Rounded out with VG to VG-EX cards of 171-Checklist (unmarked - small crease at bottom) and 209-Orr Assist Leaders (corner wear) as well as FR to G cards of 150-Sittler (crease) and 210-Orr Scoring Leaders (creased), the other stars in the checklist are in a condition that is consistent with the rest of the set.
For the 1976-77 set, found to be better off by appearing to be in the uniform ranges of EX to EX-MT and EX-MT to NM, the set's key rookie card of Bryan Trottier is seen as being in the scope of EX to EX-MT condition with slight corner wear to all four (4) points being observed. Also including Trottier's "Record Breakers" card at #67 in the checklist with the included example presenting in EX-MT to NM shape, other cards in the same grade neighborhood include 91-Dionne, 200-Dryden, 258-Checklist (unmarked) and 377-Checklist (unmarked) while both 116-Checklist (unmarked) and 163-Lafleur (slight corner wear) both fall a bit lower towards EX to EX-MT. Rounded out by an EX copy of Tiger Williams' rookie card and a GOOD condition range copy of Bobby Orr that sports a crease along the left border, once again, the other stars in the checklist are in a condition that is consistent with the rest of the set. Of note, all the cards are housed in top loaders and will be shipped this way, making the package weight and likely the postage a bit higher in price.
