Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024

A decade that saw the emergence of future Maple Leafs HOFers such as Lanny McDonald, Darryl Sittler and Borje Salming, the Toronto Maple Leafs celebrated “70’s Night” during their January 26th, 2010 contest vs the Los Angeles Kings. Up for grabs here, is this 70’s style Leafs jersey donned in warm-ups by Toronto defenceman, Francois Beauchemin. Sporting a single size “58” CCM label affixed to the inner collar with an additional CCM patch over the reverse hem alongside the embroidered NHL shield logo, the front of the tie-neck garment has been accented with a throwback style Leafs team crest in tackle twill with “Toronto Maple Leafs” embroidered and the alternate captain's "A" over the left breast. With matching alternate logo crests over both shoulders, the sleeves and verso have been done up with the number “21” in single layer blue or white tackle twill numerals while “Baun” for Leafs alumni Bob Baun is found spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate. Worn for just the warm-ups, the jersey shows no obvious game-wear but some staining not associated with game-use is seen throughout the piece as are a couple of fabric snags. Additionally, it is worth mentioning is that lace in the collar is a replacement and not original to the jersey. Accompanied by a Leafs COA, Beauchemin has signed the top of the "2" on the reverse with a black ink signature that displays well despite some even fading from age.
