A fabulous opportunity to score some captivating 1968-69 Topps cards presents itself here via a near complete assembly of the post-expansion release that features a total of 118 out of the 132 cards that make up the checklist. With all the cards presenting with some degree of wear to their corners and viewed in an overall mid-range scope of G to VG up to VG-EX to EX condition for their efforts, the group is missing key cards of 1-Cheevers, 2-Orr, 7-Esposito, 16-Hull, 29-Howe, 31-Mahovlich, 34-Sawchuk, 56-Worsley, 61-Beliveau, 64-Richard, 89-Parent RC, 121-checklist, 122-Bower and 123-Horton for completion. With the cards of 5-Bucyk, 40-Joyal, 62-Cournoyer, 65-Rouseau, 72-Gilbert, 73-Goyette, 79-Marshall, 98-Hoekstra and 113-Roberts all sporting heavy centering or cut issues over their fronts, the group is not without its star power despite the missing cards as the likes of 5-Bucyk, 20-Mikita, 23-Crozier, 28-Delvecchio, 58-Laperriere, 62-Cournoyer, 67-Giacomin, 69-Howell, 72-Gilbert, 77-Ratelle, 104-Bathgate, 111-Hall, 128-Keon and 131-Ullman are all present and accounted for. With card #68 of Annie Brown showing a very light wrinkle near the bottom border, card #30 of Bruce MacGregor also shows a small wrinkle/crease at the bottom right corner that is more noticeable on the back than the front. Additionally, cards #19, 59, 82, 124 and 130 have foxing stains or marks on their reverses while a good number of the cards making up the group have toning of varying degrees to their reverses along the left borders. Topps’ first official hockey set offered throughout the USA, other than the ’66-67 Test issue, (and featuring members from the six expansion teams for the first time), the group is bound to offer its lucky winning bidder a splendid trip down memory lane.
