Hired by the Toronto Globe as a teenager during the early-1930s to contribute sports cartoons, Chuck Templeton quit in 1936 to become a Christian evangelist. He later went on to journalism, radio and writing. We have a set of Toronto Globe newspapers from the fall of 1933 with each featuring a cartoon caricatures for 16 Leafs players including Clancy, Thoms, Primeau, Hainsworth, Smythe, Doraty, Day, Conacher, Boll, Horner, Blair, Bailey, Jackson, Irvin, Kilrea, Sands and Baldy Cotton. Each cartoon is approx 4" x 5 1/2", with the full newspapers measuring approx 17" x 23". The group show heavy toning to the newsprint with most of the papers brittle. A few extra Globe editions are also included, with caricatures of Hooley Smith, Roy Worters and others.
