Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Appealing international hockey souvenirs, these "Gladstone" sculptures were produced at a high cost prior to the 1984 Canada Cup tournament, according to a Team Canada executive. This stylized maple leaf which also represents man in motion when viewed from another angle, displays “Gladstone”, the sculptor’s name, at the bottom and stands atop a black plastic base with "Coupe Canada Cup" on a small metal plaque. The sculpture is very nicely preserved and stands 9” tall, including its 6” x 4” x 2” base which is broken in spots and repaired with black electrical tape on the reverse. The second item is a soapstone carving of a Canadian Goose, 13" in length, with carving numbers both engraved and on a sticker affixed to the underside. The surface shows wear including some minor chipping at the beak.
